Short theoretical explanations
Applied Neuroscience in Mental Health Practice
Use a smartphone or smart watch to measure heart rate, compare breathing and sound conditions, and learn to read basic EEG examples.
On day one, you will measure how heart rate and subjective experience change during rest, a stress task and slow breathing. You will compare silence, white noise, pink noise and rhythmic sounds using a simple within-person protocol. On day two, real EEG examples will help you distinguish brain activity from eye and movement artefacts, read a frequency spectrum and test simple models of neurofeedback and cognitive training.

What you will learn
What you will be able to do afterwards
- 1Separate measurement from interpretation
- 2Design a simple physiological experiment
- 3Evaluate the realistic uses and limits of EEG, neurofeedback and related methods
How you will learn
From explanation to direct practice
Each new idea is explained, tested in practice and connected to a realistic professional situation.
Hands-on online experiments
Reading real data
Critical comparison of methods
Two-day programme
What we will do on Saturday and Sunday
Day one, Saturday
- 1Measure heart rate, stress response and recovery
- 2Compare breathing and sound conditions
- 3Write a clear protocol for a small experiment
Day two, Sunday
- 1Read EEG examples and identify common artefacts
- 2Test neurofeedback and cognitive-training models
- 3Evaluate a technology against a professional question
Certificate of participation
Receive a named certificate after completion
After attending both days, you will receive a named electronic certificate stating the workshop topic, dates and total duration.
It will be sent to the email used for registration.
Who it is for
For psychologists, psychotherapists and professionals interested in applied neuroscience
