Body-based and attention exercises
Emotion and Stress Regulation: From Science to Practice
Practise specific regulation techniques and learn how to match them to the person, the situation and the level of arousal.
You will practise slow-paced breathing, the physiological sigh, progressive muscle relaxation (PMR), external orientation, sensory grounding, deliberate attention shifting, cognitive defusion and reappraisal. For each technique, you will follow a clear protocol, discuss when it may help or backfire, and rate tension before and after. Case exercises will help you choose an appropriate technique for acute stress, panic, rumination or dissociation and build a safe seven-day “if, then” practice plan.
