How to Find a CBT Therapist in Armenia
A polished website, an impressive title, or a large following is not enough to establish professional fit. Look for concrete information about training, therapeutic approach, scope, process, and whether the therapist can explain their work clearly.
Professional foundation
Look for specific and verifiable information
A profile should make it possible to understand the person’s primary education, psychotherapy training, modality, and relevant experience. Titles such as neuroscientist, psychologist, therapist, consultant, and coach do not describe the same preparation.
An academic degree can strengthen scientific reasoning but does not replace psychotherapy training. A short course likewise does not establish comprehensive clinical competence.
- What primary and psychotherapy training does the person have?
- Which approach do they use and why?
- How do they maintain professional development or supervision?
- How do they describe the limits of their competence?
Working process
Clarity is part of trust
Session duration, fees, cancellation, confidentiality, communication, and emergency procedures should be understandable before treatment begins.
A CBT therapist should be able to explain assessment, goal setting, treatment planning, and progress review without promising guaranteed or universal results.
Relationship
A good fit is more than feeling comfortable
You should feel heard, able to disagree, and able to ask questions. At the same time, useful therapy may include examining difficult patterns rather than only receiving reassurance.
After the first meeting, consider whether you understood the proposal, felt respected, and received realistic rather than exaggerated expectations.
Warning signs
Reasons to pause and reassess
Warning signs include unclear fees or privacy rules, boundary violations, guaranteed cures, dismissing all other professionals, or blaming the client when an intervention fails.
A responsible therapist recognizes the limits of their role and recommends medical, psychiatric, or other specialist assessment when appropriate.

Discuss your specific situation
Educational information can clarify a model, but an individual formulation requires context, goals, history, and a suitability assessment.
